Ramsay Health Care has not been able to reach agreement on a new contract with health insurer Bupa.

Unless a resolution is reached between the parties, Ramsay’s contract with Bupa will be terminated with effect from 2 August 2022. This may unfortunately impact Bupa customers wanting to access Ramsay hospitals in Australia.

When providing quality care to patients, Ramsay considers higher benefits are necessary to cover the cost increases private hospitals now face.

Costs of providing care have significantly increased for private hospitals over the past two years. On the other hand, health insurers have accumulated profits of $1.8 billion in the calendar year to 31 December 2021.

Ramsay still hopes to reach agreement with Bupa prior to the contract termination date.
